BioCert® Intelligent Identity Manager™ - Compatible Devices

BioCert PC Security products feature fingerprint biometric software solutions that incorporate secure login to windows and single sign on password management. The BioCert® Identity Manager (BioCert IDentity) is designed to provide a secure and convenient computing environment. A user can consolidate all passwords and network accounts into a single data unit called User Identity. Security and privacy are strictly enforced with BioCert® Identity, so all private data is available only to its owner. User identity is always encrypted and can be protected with Multifactor Authentication

BioCert IDentity enhances user convenience and productivity with Single Sign On (SSO) functionality. SSO can store user names and passwords for an unlimited number of applications and automatically submits them when required. With SSO the user no longer needs to remember the growing number of passwords for Internet and Windows applications.

BioCert IDentity increases system security through the use of Multifactor Authentication Policy. Multifactor authentication policies define authentication methods and credentials that are required to log on to the system and BioCert IDentity. Authentication methods include password, TPM password, fingerprint, smart card, or virtual token. Policy can force single or multiple authentication methods or can let the user select from a defined list of authentication methods.

Multifactor Authentication

BioCert IDentiity Manager

BioCert® Identity increases system security through the use of Multifactor Authentication Policy. A system administrator can assign multifactor authentication policies to other users and administrators. Multifactor authentication policies define authentication methods and credentials that are required to log on to the system and BioCert® Identity.

The following authentication methods are supported in multifactor authentication functionality:

  • Password
  • Fingerprint
  • TPM
  • Smart card
  • USB token
  • Virtual token

System Administrators may configure multifactor authentication policy using any combination of supported authentication methods or select one of predefined authentication policies in BioCert® Identity. BioCert® Identity also provides the possibility for multiple user access privileges for the same application or service.

Services and Applications

BioCert® Identity features meet customer needs in many fields. Based on the levels of access granted by the administrator, the user could access many protected network resources.

Compatible Devices

The BioCert Intelligent Identity Manager and VeriSoft Access Manager are fully functional and compatible with the following devices, peripherals and notebooks.

Additional Biometric Approved Peripherals

Trusted Platform Module (TPM) authentication support for Infineon TPM SLD 9630 TT 1.1b

The trusted platform module (TPM) provides the ability to run the system or applications more securely and makes communications more trustworthy.

A TPM provides the first level of trust by hardening the base platform and system software in the following areas:

  • Protected Storage– Hardware-protected storage of sensitive data that may include user passwords, certificates and other credentials
  • Platform Authentication– Attestable authentication of the platform that ensures that the platform is secure
  • Protected Cryptographic Processes– Hardware-protected key generation, random number generation, and hash and digital signature
  • Platform Trust State– Ability to communicate the attestable trust state of the platform

Smart card & USB or Virtual Token authentication: -

A smart card is a plastic card about the size of a credit card with an embedded microchip that can be loaded with information. Smart cards provide protection of information and authentication for individual users. Logging on to a network with a smart card can provide a strong form of authentication when it uses cryptography-based identification and proof of possession when authenticating a user to a domain.

A USB token is simply a smart card in a different form factor. Rather than deploying the smart chip on a plastic credit platform, the smart chip is inserted into a plastic token, also known as a key. The major difference between a smart card and a token is in the access interface. A card requires a reader, while a token plugs directly into any USB port. There is no difference in the core functionality of storing and providing credentials.

A virtual token represents the software emulation of hardware token such as a smart card or USB token. The software token can be stored either in the Windows registry database or in a file and includes the token's location on a hard drive, diskette, USB drive, and so on.

  • Initialize smart cards and USB tokens - Smart cards and USB tokens are supported through Cryptographic Token Interface Standard (PKCS#11) interface.
  • Personalize and register cards and tokens
  • User PIN management includes length, expiration, and change on next logon settings.
  • Master PIN management
  • Register certificates
  • Backup user identity on the smart cards and tokens
  • Use the cards and tokens for SSO and system logon
  • Other Smart Card Systems under development
